State of Affairs...
Posted by jbholston at 07:37 AM

Lurching back a century under the theocon penumbra:

--Paying right-wing students to spy on their professors on campus

--Conservatives bemoan fact that they've left no free speech defenders left in Congress

--meanwhile, Governor Owens' last lame duck gasp spent quacking against free speech. $150 million medicaid IT crisis? $100 million Anti-terrorism incompetence? Conservative Rocky Mountiain News this morning:

Reports show that little has been done to protect the state's critical infrastructure, and that Gov. Bill Owens did nothing to set priorities for spending the homeland security windfall until Jan. 31, when he appointed a committee.

Worst-performing economy in the country?

No other state in the union would let its Chief Executive slide so...

--'TheoCon Culture' -- rip Square Pants; all 1950s nostalgia, and two centuries' old architecture ("why oh why do we have to have loos?)

--Notice that the Iraq war is over? Right-wing media (synonym; mainstream media) complies with Bush edict to assert Mission Accomplished post Iraqi election. Average number of Iraqi dead per-day since the vote? Trend??

--Iran. Deja vu all over again .... 'reviewing intelligence', 'take them before security council', 'all options available'....

--Propaganda machine -- paying pundits, planting pseudonymous propagandists in the White House, paid disinformation channels around the world, ethics oversight DeLay'd...

--Militarizing the economy beneath regressive tax policies to bankrupt the Great Society...

Oh, and Rice lied about pre-9/11 warnings, and Bush buried that fact until after the election.

Free speech? Naw.... Outsourced torture? Hooray!

--$300 million to buy academia, media, and the government and Poof! no more America...
