The Clinton Library
Posted by jbholston at 11:32 PM

Just watched the rain-drenched ceremony on C-Span.

Bono and the Edge, acoustic guitar clear, singing Sunday, Bloody Sunday ... in honor of Clinton's efforts for the Peace in Ireland. A clarion piercing through a morose American sky today....

I remember flying once on a business trip across country. The Edge was in first class, with his son. Calm, quiet, clear-eyed.

Watching Bush chatter on the sidelines, impatient while they sang, I had to marvel again that the words didn't seem to be penetrating ......

Of course, as the Economist points out, the library does look like one immense glass house trailer. Which as Clinton points out, is just about right for him...

The problem with Condi
Posted by jbholston at 11:17 PM

The Washington Post declares her appointment 'the triumph of the hawks.'

I think it's simpler -- this is just another sign of Bush' complete failure as a manager.

Whenever challenged, Bush circles the wagons. Classic fear response.

Rice' initial tenure demonstrated an utter unwillingness to challenge the theocons' reign of terror.

Bush just wants the whole difficult situation to go away.

What a rudderless dinghy...

Ciao, Colin;
