There's been a lot of discussion about blogs replacing or affecting traditional journalism, but less about the hidden treasure emerging from professionals' blogs.
Three examples: Brad Feld, in the V.C. realm; Mark Cuban, in the sports-owner world; and Jeff Jarvis , from the media/publishing space. (I distinguish professionals in a field from professionals who are their own field -- like Seth Godin and political candidates -- to rephrase Mcluhan, men who've become the media and message ...)
We're just at the dawning of the era of immediate and complete transparency from experts in all fields.
Which will have interesting disintermediation affects on the industries that traditionally sourced and translated the wisdom from those at the top of their respective professional food chains....
Which in turn means an increasing role for new types of editors -- the tools and judgments necessary to know about and effectively digest content direct from this exploding source.
Of course, I'm a NewsGator partisan; I think it's an ideal assistant for anyone who needs to hear clearly through the cacophony...
